Midlands Bureau
A 55-year-old man from Blinkwater plots in Mvuma has been arrested after 17 plants of dagga were found in his garden.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Greenwell Jenwa was arrested on January 29 at around 1 pm.
“The police on patrol in Blinkwater were informed that Greenwell Jemwa, a plot holder in the area, was cultivating dagga in his garden,” he said.
Inspector Mahoko said police officers arrested the suspect along the Gweru-Mvuma Road.
“Investigations led to the discovery and uprooting of seventeen plants of dagga with an average height of two metres,” he said.
Inspector Mahoko said the plants were loaded into a police motor vehicle and transported to Mvuma Police Station as exhibits.
He said the street value of the dagga is yet to be ascertained.
“The suspect is in custody awaiting appearance in court for trial,” said Inspector Mahoko.
