AFRO fusion guitarist, Mwenje Mathole, has released visuals to his single titled “Samora Mashero” in a build-up to his upcoming album.
The song depicts the life in a town on the other side of the city.
A lifestyle separates society through a road whereby on the other side some are struggling to make ends meet, while on the other the inhabitants are living a soft life.
In an interview, the crooner said his song resonates well with the young people as they all try to make it and cross over to the other side of the street.
“We want to be somebody in life. Our dreams goals and aspirations are to be successful people. We wake up and put in the work.
“Desires of our hearts filled with so many plans and anticipation.
“In this song, I wanted to capture us as the youth. What we go through every day yearning and wishing that someday we will be on the same wavelength as that of the guys across,” he said.
The song “Samora Mashero” broke the internet upon release with netizens taking to social media to pledge their full support towards the artiste.
“It’s amazing how the reception has been. I would want to believe I am evolving for the better as with each song I tend to perfect than the previous one and like fine wine I keep maturing.
“I am not new to the industry, but each time I release something, the love from my fans is amazing and I want to honour them with more beautiful music from the Mosi tribe.
“Everyone I worked with on the visuals did an amazing job. This project would not have been a success without them, it takes a village to raise a child and I believe as the youths, we are raising each other,” he said.
After taking a sabbatical to pursue his studies, the singer has assured fans he is back and here to stay with his 2024 album.
“Asi nekushingirira tichaita nyasi kwaSamora kuti kuve mhiri kwaSamora,” a line in the song which can be translated to mean “we all are hopeful and dream of a brighter day someday we will make it”.
On July 20, Mwenje is set to host a live recording of the show towards the build-up at the Rainbow Towers’ VIP Lounge.
