Mwenje Mathole cancels Johannesburg show amid Xenophobia concerns

Afro-Jazz musician Mwenje Mathole has cancelled a show he was set to headline at Hardrock in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa, citing growing xenophobic tensions and reported threats in the neighbouring country.
The performance, which was part of his Better Must Come Tour, had been scheduled for May 1. It was expected to feature Urban Grooves star Nox Guni, Debbie Nzombe, Masa Caroline, and Naboth Mathole.
Organisers have since confirmed that the event will be rescheduled to a safer date, which will be announced once conditions improve and concerns have eased.
Mwenje Mathole personally confirmed the cancellation, assuring fans that all those who had purchased advance tickets will receive full refunds.
“We regret to inform you that due to the current circumstances in Johannesburg, we are cancelling the show for now.
“We have been advised to postpone the event to a later date for the safety and wellbeing of our fans and friends. All tickets purchased will be fully refunded.
“Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We shall definitely meet soon,” said Mathole.
