MDC-T spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora, who was facing two counts of theft of trust property dating back to 2006, has been acquitted on both charges.
Harare magistrate Mr Adonia Masawi cleared Mwonzora at the close of the State case.
Mr Masawi ruled that there was no reasonable suspicion that the accused committed the offence.
“The State closed its case after calling four witnesses. There is no dispute that the accused cannot be put to his defence when the State evidently failed to prove a case against him,” he said.
The complainant in this case was Everson Dandadzi employed by Nestle Zimbabwe.
Mwonzora was accused of failing to reimburse funds to Dandadzi, following an aborted sale of a house in Mabelreign, Harare.
It is alleged Stephen Chitongo bought a piece of land, which was valued at Z$4 billion and made two separate cheque payments.
