THERE was a time, not so long ago, when winning was something they did with regularity at MWOS.
That time, one could feel for any team that would visit the Punters who floored Dynamos, CAPS United, Highlanders and Scottland in their Ngoni backyard.
They stretched their unbeaten run to 17 games and they gave their fans a reason to believe they could even win the championship.
But, nothing has been the same for the Norton side in the second half of the season.
Lloyd Mutasa and his men are now struggling against teams they effortlessly dismissed in the reverse fixtures. MWOS are winless in their last four games. They had to come from behind to force a 1-1 against Herentals on Saturday at Ngoni.
Herentals forward Tino Benza scored the opening goal in the early stages of the game and Billy Veremu restored parity to take his tally to 11 goals.
It was Benza’s third goal of the season.
Mutasa urged his men to remain united until the battle is over.
“I want to believe that it’s a phase that will pass. You can only bounce back if you are united,” said Mutasa. “These results, which are coming, are part and parcel of football.
“Whether it is here in Zimbabwe or elsewhere teams at times go off form.
“We have been a family from the onset and we always emphasised the element of being together.
“Whether things are flowing or not flowing, we can only cry after the game.”
