WITH all the focus on Scottland and Black Rhinos at the weekend, resurgent MWOS quietly powered their way to the top of a competitive ZIFA Northern Region Division One soccer league at the weekend.
Scottland and Rhinos battled their way to a 1-1 draw at the Heart Stadium on Saturday.
The result meant that Scottland have now taken four points from the army side after beating them 2-0 at Rufaro in the final match of the first round programme.
Scottland, whose games attract a colourful crowd, including a number of celebrities, showed character to battle their way to a point with a late penalty from newboy Leeroy Mavunga.
Ronald Pfumbidzai marked his return to domestic football by playing the entire 90 minutes and showing that he will be a big factor in the championship race.
While the two Harare sides were cancelling out each other, MWOS, who are under the guidance of Lloyd Mutasa, took over pole position after a 3-0 win over Herentals Under-20.
Tafadzwa George scored twice to take his season’s tally to six and he now leads his club’s Golden Boot race.
Arthur George scored one goal and has now taken his tally to five.
He has scored the same number of goals as his captain Chris Samakwere.
MWOS FC have also brought in more players. They have signed Tinotenda ‘Dhiziri’ Mutyambizi.
