FED up by his son’s wayward behaviour, a Mutare man has filed for a protection order against him.
In his application, Peter Magwenzi said his second born son, Munyaradzi Magwenzi (33), is calling his new wife a woman of loose morals and a gold digger.
Peter also alleged that Munyaradzi is threatening to kill his other siblings.
He went further to state that Munyaradzi accuses him of killing his mother.
Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato presided over the matter and granted the protection order in Peter’s favour.
Munyaradzi was ordered not to assault or insult his father.
Said Peter: “My son is in the habit of assaulting and insulting me as well as disposing of my property without my consent. He also threatens to kill my other children.
“On December 22, he came home while we were gathered as a family for the festive celebrations and insulted my two-year-old child. He wanted to kick him and his young brother intervened and took the child into the house. When he came out of the house, Munyaradzi insulted and threatened to kill him.
“He stormed into the house and dragged me outside. He tore my T-shirt and assaulted me,” said Peter.
A report was made to the police, leading to Munyaradzi’s arrest.
Peter also said Munyaradzi stole his bed and sold it. He used the money to buy alcohol.
However, Munyaradzi denied the allegations.
He said his father hates him.
“My father is always right. If you point his flaws, he will not take it lightly. You would have crossed his path for good. Our misunderstanding started when I advised him against marrying another woman after my mother’s death as it was too early for him to do so. After all, the woman he married is of ill-health,” said Munyaradzi.
He also said his father dislikes him following a misunderstanding over the composition of the team that lead in the marriage negotiations for his two sisters.
“I asked my father to invite my late mother’s two sisters to take part in the ceremonies as my sisters were getting married (marooro), but he refused,” said Munyaradzi.
However, Peter was adamant that his son is both a liar and a criminal, hence the decision to apply for a protection order against him for fear of his life.
“He killed a person in South Africa and the police there are looking for him. His friend sent him an audio message warning him not to come back to South Africa as the police are looking for him in connection with the murder,” said Peter.
