Mzembi to stand trial at High Court

Yeukai Karengezeka, Court Correspondent

The High Court will soon hear the case of former Foreign Affairs Minister Walter Mzembi, who faces charges of theft of trust property amounting to US$2 million.

During today’s proceedings, the prosecution was expected to announce a trial date.

However, prosecutor Mr Lancelot Mutsokoti informed the court that Mzembi should return on August 6, pending the completion of ongoing investigations and his forthcoming indictment.

Mzembi is accused of misappropriating televisions valued at US$2 million, which were originally purchased for fan parks during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, for his personal use.
