it Baby”.
The songs have been receiving massive air play on local radio stations and he predicts the new offering will be even more popular.
“My single is a hit and its quality is better than most songs I have done. After being in the industry for years, I have learnt that releasing singles promotes songs better and saves money too,” he said.
“The Chairman”, as he is known to his fans, also spoke of his partnership with local promoter, Simaz of Vibes Promotion, saying it has led to him branding himself as a businessman. “Because of the new developments, I now treat my music as a business that is supposed to yield profits. Urban grooves artistes should also follow suit and be professional in music because in the end we all need to get by. Many people can sing but because of poor management not everyone is making money out of it,” he said.
The artiste, who is also a shareholder in Sanni Makhalima’s Umsindo Records, added that it is going to improve the music quality as he is now putting adequate resources to bring out the best.
In that same breath, Mzimba lashed out at young artistes who, he said, waste their time singing about their “supposed” fat bank accounts.
“My intention is to build and not start beef with artistes but it is a growing problem among upcoming artistes.
“There are many other things to sing about besides money and clothes. People should take a leaf from artistes who are singing about constructive stuff like circumcision, HIV and Aids,” she said.
Mzimba’s unmistakable voice is also found on the new “Peace” track that features Sniper Storm, Cindy, Leonard Mapfumo, Patience Musa, Plaxedes Wenyika, Sulumani Chimbetu and Roki. He has also written and featured on countless songs in the urban grooves movement.
