Multi-award-winning all-rounder artiste Mzoe 7 who is on a quest to uplift up-and-coming creatives and help them realise their potential, has collaborated with young soulful vocalist Macala and producer Smashmaker on a song titled Ungamthanda.
The video of the song was shot at Lavinia Gardens by Brooklyn Films with other scenes shot at Tshabalala suburb and at Bulawayo Chiefs Village.
On working with Macala and Smashmaker on his first single this year, Mzoe 7 said he decided to give them a chance as he saw potential in them.
“I had the honour of working with Smashmaker on the song Tshilamoya and I realised how talented he is as he brought the soulful side of my talent.
“When he sent me another beat, I was coming from a love seminar and one guy had spoken about how we should love so much without expecting anything back.
“I then came up with the lyrics for the song Ungamthanda which I twisted the plot to stress out the issue of loving people who don’t love us back.
“The song is a story of a young man telling his friend how he has given up on love but his friend encourages him to be hopeful but not expect the next person to give them the same love.
“I featured the talented and most promising young musician Macala and the producer Smashmaker because I believe it’s wise to nurture young talent as we won’t be here forever therefore we should leave a good legacy behind. These two guys are definitely the future,” said Mzoe 7.
The Entumbane-bred artiste said this year he will put more focus on working with young talents as a way of helping them to manoeuvre the creative industry space and groom them to be solid artistes.
He also said that he is working hard in preparing for his one-man show which will be titled I am who I am.
“Apart from grooming young creatives, this year I will also be putting my energy towards my one-man show which will happen soon. The event will be about me, my music journey, my personal life and celebrating all my wins.
“I am looking forward to working with interested sponsors and brands who are willing to collaborate with me and make this dream come into fruition. This year we are open for business and I am willing to work with those determined,” said Mzoe 7.
