IN Bulawayo and beyond, Mzoe 7 has carved out a name for himself as a versatile musician, dancer, MC and choreographer. With just days to go before the second edition of his one-man show, he remains focused on expanding his brand beyond Zimbabwe and uplifting young talent along the way.

The show, titled I Am Who I Am, will take place on October 11 at the Bulawayo Theatre. It forms part of the 50 Dates at the Theatre series curated by arts veteran, Saimon “Mambazo” Phiri. Mzoe 7 says this edition is designed not only to showcase his artistic evolution but also to serve as a launchpad for emerging acts such as Macala, Apd, Vocal X and Asaph.

“The event isn’t just about me. I’m using this platform to support new talent like Macala and Apd, who will share the stage in an exciting showcase of music, dance and performance,” said Mzoe 7.

Rehearsals for the production are already in full swing at PES Studios, where Mzoe 7 — renowned for his explosive stage energy and signature choreography — has been directing and shaping performances.

“Alongside me is Mambazo, with whom I’m jointly steering the production to ensure a flawless show. Dancers, Vocal X and a live band have been putting in long hours to perfect their craft for what promises to be an unforgettable night,” he said.

The I Am Who I Am production is envisioned as a red-carpet, theatre-meets-music spectacle — a fusion of storytelling, performance and entertainment designed to inspire as much as it entertains.

However, Mzoe 7 admits putting together an event of this scale has been far from easy.
“This production is not an easy thing. It requires a lot of focus, hard work and resources. I’m happy the build-up has already generated buzz as I’m intertwining my artistry with social impact through my #MajitaLetsTalk mental health wellness initiative, which has been reaching out to young men, to encourage open conversations about mental well-being.”

Beyond the music, the show will also unveil a new line of branded caps and T-shirts, adding a lifestyle dimension to Mzoe 7’s growing creative empire.

“Fans can expect a mix of theatre, music and dance in a glamorous red-carpet setting. With both established and rising stars on stage, the night will be a celebration of creativity, growth and mentorship.” — @mthabisi_mthire
