NAAZ, BCC clash

The National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe were left disappointed on Saturday after failing to use the electronic timing scoreboard at White City Stadium in Bulawayo, during their pre-selection events for the African Junior Championship and the Southern Region Championship. White City was refurbished and an electronic timer was set up for the African Union Region Five Youth Championships last year and NAAZ were now hoping to make use of the facility.

NAAZ president Tendai Tagara was yesterday not picking up calls but one of the coaches who attended the event expressed their displeasure after they failed to use the equipment. “We could not use the electronic board as we had anticipated because the Bulawayo City Council had locked away the equipment. Even the equipment for the field events was not available and we ended up doing track disciplines only. “It was very frustrating for us and the athletes, especially field events specialists.”
