THE National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe (Naaz) has opened entries for the National Junior Championships set to take place on April 12 at White City Stadium in Bulawayo.

The event promises to be an exciting day of athletic competition, featuring a wide range of track and field events that will see the best young talent in the country competing for glory.

Among the events on offer are the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, and 5000m races as well as hurdles, long jump, high jump, triple jump, javelin, and discus.

The entry fee is pegged at US$2 per event for individual athletes and US$4 per relay team.

In addition to the Naaz Junior Championships, the Bulawayo Marathon, another major event is making a comeback this year. After a few years hiatus since its last sponsorship by Coca-Cola, the marathon is set to return on April 19, 2025, at White City Stadium. The marathon has a rich history, once considered one of Zimbabwe’s premier running events. It is known for its scenic course through Bulawayo’s western suburbs, attracting both local and international athletes.

Registration for the Bulawayo Marathon opened on January 15 and will close on April 15.

The race numbers for participants can be collected from April 16 to 18, 2025, at White City Stadium from 9am to 5pm and on race day from 5am to 6am.

Registered athletes will receive confirmation of their race number via email or SMS. Athletes will need to present proof of identification and their race confirmation when collecting their race pack.

Those collecting on behalf of an athlete must also provide proof of identity.

The Bulawayo Marathon includes several race categories, the 21km, 10km, and 5km, with entry fees set at $15. This event aims to inspire individuals to live active, healthy lives, foster community camaraderie, and support local causes. It promises to be a thrilling day for participants and spectators alike. — @innocentskizoe.
