Nac celebrates World Aids Day through Sports

The National Aids Council of Zimbabwe (Nac) in collaboration with Youth Creative Ideas, will on Saturday celebrate the World Aids Day through a sports gala that will see clubs from HIV Prevention Soccer and Netball Leagues fight it out at Iminyelaa��s Ndola Stadium.

Six football teams that include FC Chelsea, United Refineries, Zwakala Zulu FC, Impande Youth Centre, Makhandeni United and Makokoba Shooters will battle it out for the top honours.

Lobengula Queens, How Mine, Eleven Stars, Busters, Luveve Queens and New Orleans will seek to outdo each other in the netball category.

Football lovers will first be treated with a match between Makhandeni United and United Refineries. Thereafter, Impande Youth Centre will face Zwakala Zulu while Makokoba Shooters will faceA� FC Chelsea later on.

The netball contest will see New Orleans lockhorns with Eleven Stars. In the second match, Lobengula Queens will take on Busters. The next fixture will be between Luveve Queens and How Mine.

Nac organising committee member, Mthokozisi Ndlovu, said winners in both categories would receive a trophy, medals, playing kits and training equipment.

He said at the tournament various services would be offered for free.

These include HIV testing, voluntary male circumcision, TB screening, BP check, dental services, blood donation and family planning,a�? said Ndlovu.

Khaya Arts, Methembe Oxide Junior Moyo, Njanji Arts and SOS will provide edutainment at the gala.
