THE National Aids Council (NAC) is rolling out a number of initiatives, including having regular mobile clinics in HIV/Aids hotspot areas in Matabeleland South Province to bridge the gap left by the exit of other partners as a result of funding cuts by the United States government.
NAC provincial project coordinator, Mr Wilfred Ngwenya, told journalists on Monday that they were targeting needy areas, mostly in rural areas, guided by the national census figures.
The organisation is having a week-long media engagement to amplify the fight against HIV/Aids.
The media engagement includes a tour of major projects in the Gwanda and Insiza districts.
Mr Ngwenya said besides mobile HIV/Aids clinics, they were rolling out the Sista to Sista, Not in My Village, Community Anti-retroviral Refill Groups (CARG), Peer Led Model and Male Engagement programmes among others.
So far, he said they had started having the mobile clinic at Mtshabezi under Chief Mathema, where community members are getting free HIV/Aids screening, maternal, eye and counselling services among others.
