The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ), the organisers of the Chibuku Road to Fame 2024 in partnership with Delta Beverages, has clarified the inclusion of an eleventh group in this year’s competition, a deviation from the traditional ten groups.

This year, eleven groups are vying for the
top prize at the Glamis Arena in Harare

Crazy Eight, from Mashonaland Central, was initially added to replace the provincial winners, Shanty Town, who faced issues that seemed to prevent their participation. However, the situation resolved at the last minute, leading organisers to allow both groups to compete.
“The competition this year includes 11 groups due to a technical problem that initially affected the first group from Mashonaland Central, leading us to select the second group to represent the province. When the issue was resolved just before the event started, we decided that both groups would compete,” explained NACZ representatives.

All eleven groups have now performed, and winners will be announced shortly.

The winner will receive US$15 000 and a recording contract, while the second and third runners-up will take home US$10 000 and US$7 500, respectively. The 2024 edition runs under the theme “Bvirarira, Tshay’iNgoma.” – @mthabisi_mthire
