South African songbird NAE known for her collaboration with American DJ and record producer Kerri Chandler, is the latest artist to join Zimbabwean Afro House project Inner Visions, which is scheduled for release in November.

Born Zhane Venter, NAE discovered her passion for singing at an early age. She began performing at school events and singing in church choirs when she was 10.

By the age of 12, she had joined her school choir, further developing her vocal skills. International stars Rihanna and Sia were among her early musical influences.

“Music has always been a part of my life. I slowly got into it and pushed myself to be the best I can be, and I am still on that mission to become the best that I can possibly be,” she said.

NAE made her mark on the South African music scene in 2023 with the release of her debut EP, which blended house music and amapiano. The project featured tracks such as “Don’t Tell”, “Eya” and “Pink Lace”.

She later released several singles that received local radio airplay, including on Metro FM and 5FM.

Her collaboration with Chandler on “Caged Bird” further raised her profile internationally. Music platform Juno praised the track for its captivating sound and soulful feel.

NAE is now part of the growing Afro House movement through “I Wanna Fly”, a lively track produced by TAPIWA, Simbai and Dr Feel for the Inner Visions project.

In a social media post, she expressed excitement about joining the compilation, which brings together Zimbabwean musicians and producers.

“I’m so honoured to be featured on a collaborative project such as Inner Visions, curated by Dr Feel, alongside amazing and talented Zimbabwean musicians and producers. The song that I was featured on is called ‘I Wanna Fly’ and it was produced in collaboration with TAPIWA, Simbai and Dr Feel. I cannot wait for you guys to hear this song, it is amazing,” she said.

“I Wanna Fly” is expected to feature on the full Inner Visions Afro House compilation, which will bring together previously announced and yet-to-be-announced tracks.

The project is scheduled for release in November under South African record label Mansa Musa
