Nakamba on a roll: MOTM performance follows POTM award

DAYS after winning the Luton Town’s Player of the Month award for March, Zimbabwean midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba was yesterday named Man of the Match for playing a key role in his team’s come-from-behind 3-1 win over Blackpool in the English Championship at Kenilworth Road.

Luton Town were 1-0 down in the 29th minute when Andy Lyons put Blackpool in front. The Hatters levelled matters two minutes into the first half added time through Pelly Ruddock who completed his brace in the 76th minute after Carlton Morris had put the home team in the lead with 72 minutes played.

After a poor first half, the third-placed Hatters came back with more zeal in the second period.

“Marvelous Nakamba is the Man of the Match, another superb performance,” announced We Are Luton Town at the end of the match.

Nakamba has been a marvel for the Hatters since he joined them on deadline day on loan from Aston Villa.

The Zimbabwean midfield kingpin has played in all the league matches for Luton Town since making his debut as a substitute in a 1-0 triumph over Stoke City on February 4. His first start was on February 11 against Coventry City, an encounter which ended 1-1.

Since Nakamba moved to Luton Town, they have only suffered defeat once, a 1-0 loss to the already promoted Burnley at home on February 18.

Nakamba is looking to use his loan move to Luton Town to rejuvenate his career, which had taken a knock due to lack of game time at Aston Villa.

The Zimbabwean is still contracted to The Claret and Blue until June next year and it remains to be seen if he returns to Villa Park or stays put at Kenilworth Road at the end of the season.

Luton Town have a chance of playing in the English Premier League next season if they manage to remain in the top six and go on to win the playoffs. — @Mdawini_29
