THE National Arts Council of Zimbabwe has encouraged artistes to submit their entries for the National Arts Merit Awards (Nama) set for February next year. The arts body, which administers the awards, has called upon artistes and the public to forward names of artistes they feel deserve nomination ahead of the 30 November deadline.
The communications and marketing officer of NACZ, Cathrine Mthombeni said artistes who had not submitted their works for the awards must do so now to beat the deadline and avoid a last minute rush.
“This is a reminder to all artistes and the public that the deadline for the Nama submissions is nearing and all those who have not yet handed in their nominations must do so to avoid last minute rushes and disappointments after failing to meet the deadline,” said Mthombeni.
She said artistes must submit entries to all works created, published, exhibited, performed or recorded between 1 December 2012 and 30 November 2013.
“Entry forms are available countrywide at all provincial arts offices and artistes are free to go and collect them and submit their entries,” said Mthombeni.
The 13th edition of the awards will once again be held in Bulawayo and is slated for 15 February 2014. NACZ Bulawayo province programmes officer, William Nyandoro encouraged Bulawayo artistes to visit their offices at Mhlahlandlela to collect forms and submit their entries.
“Once again the City of Kings would be hosting the prestigious awards and it is time for Bulawayo artistes to shine hence they must submit their entries to be part of the awards,” he said.
