OVER 100 players are set to take part in this year’s NAMA Golf Day slated for Bulawayo Golf Club on November 10.

The event is aimed at forging alliances in the creative sector.

It is meant to drum up support for the 22nd National Arts Merit Awards to be held in Bulawayo on February 24 next year.

NAMA spokesperson, Tinashe Kitchen, urged Zimbabwean artists to support the initiative.

“We expect a subscription of about 100 players. As always, all Zimbabwean artists play for free. We encourage artists to take this opportunity to meet with various corporates to explore areas of collaboration and business opportunities.

“In the past, we have had artists and personalities such as Nutty-O, Anita Jaxson, Samantha Musa (MisRed), Andile Musambasi (1st edition NAMA Golf day winner) Russel Chiradza, Larry Kwirirayi, Chenesai Mangoma, Isaac Wiscot, Chiedza Kurwakumire, Shamiso Quang, Barry Manandi and Mike Madoda, to name a few,” said Kitchen.

The event organisers assured fans that the fourth edition was also meant to celebrate diversity.

“For the first time in the history of the NAMA Golf Day, we have shifted the event to Bulawayo. We felt it was important that the nation be reminded of the amazing artistic work that has come out of the City of Kings. The NAMA Golf Day serves as an official launch pad for this process, and we look forward to utilising the platform to showcase and promote that world-class talent.

“We expect a different atmosphere, a different culture, and a different level of engagement from artists. We believe that all of Zimbabwe’s artists should be allowed to take part in this event, and we look forward to taking it to different parts of the country in future.

“We also expect a large turnout from players. We have already received a large number of registrations, and we hope that artists will also take up the opportunity to meet with corporates and discuss areas of collaboration.”

Outlining their vision, Kitchen reiterated that they wanted to deliver a world-class event.

“We are officially announcing the arrival of NAMA in Bulawayo, and we look forward to being embraced and supported in uplifting the standard and quality of arts in this country.

“We also call on local organisations and businesses in Bulawayo to take up the call to support the NAMA and its mission of promoting our country’s talent. Open your doors, let’s talk, and let’s contribute to the growth of our art collectively.”

Sponsors behind the NAMA Golf Day include Skyz Metro, Dariro Mode, Culture Fund and the European Union, – M&G Stationery, ZLG, Dendairy, Cairns Foods, Airports Company of Zimbabwe, and Wild Africa Travel & Tours.
