Namboole Stadium ready to host Rugby Africa Cup

Peter Odong, the Uganda Rugby Union Secretary is confident that Namboole Stadium is ready for the Rugby Africa Cup that starts this weekend.

It is time for the rugby fans to feel the refurbished Namboole Stadium with its numerous developments. ;

“All is set for the tournament to kick off and the facility is in fine shape.

“I can only rally fans to come through and enjoy the game from a different venue with the same vibe and intensity,” Odong noted.

He noted this while inspecting the venue of the Rugby Africa Cup games which
workers at Namboole Stadium were fine-turning.

It was during the same event that the Uganda Rugby Union also highlighted the fact that the tournament will be used as the build-up to the forthcoming rugby World Cup qualifiers next year.

“We are preparing a team that will be selected to represent the nation next year at the World Cup qualifiers,” he said.

The Rugby Africa Cup is a continental men’s rugby tournament organised by Rugby Africa.

The 2024 edition features eight nations including Burkina Faso, Namibia, Senegal, Kenya, Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe, and hosts Uganda.

Odong also assured the press that the ticketing system was resolved by the organising committee liaising with Namboole stadium management to ease fans’ access to the facility without any hardship.

“We have worked out a well-orchestrated plan to see that rugby fans access the facility with ease through a properly managed ticketing system that is monitored well.”

URU also signed a partnership with MTN MOMO for the tournament to help in selling e-tickets at the venue.

The tourney scheduled to run from July 18-29, at the Mandela National Stadium-Namboole and the Wankulukuku Stadium, will feature three ticket categories: Ordinary, VIP, and VVIP.

Fans can purchase their tickets with ease, taking advantage of exclusive early bird discounts available only through the MTN MoMo app.
