Nash drops bombshell

The declaration is with effect from next month as the organisation tries to instill some sense of professionalism in their games.
Matabeleland North provincial head in charge of soccer Lunguza Ndlovu confirmed this resolution and said his province would conduct a Level One and Two soccer coaching course from today to next week at Fatima High School in an effort to capacitate their teachers.

According to Ndlovu, a Level One coaching clinic would run from today to Wednesday next week with Level Two starting on that day up to 18 April.
Renowned instructors and former senior and junior national teams’ coaches Gibson Homela and Weekly Mwale will conduct the training seminars.
“Nash has always wanted to implement this but noticed that very few of our teachers are certified coaches hence these courses we are conducting as there will be no uncertified coach who will be allowed to sit on the technical bench during any of our games,” said Ndlovu, a headmaster at Chilisa Secondary School in Hwange.

Ndlovu said while some schools had tended to use qualified coaches who are not teachers during training sessions, these coaches were also not allowed to sit on the bench during games as Nash wants only those members who can be controlled under the Public Service Commission regulations.
“It is easier to deal with our teachers who are under the Public Service Commission regulations unlike someone who is entirely not bound by those rules,” said Ndlovu.

In some instances the hired coaches end up involved in fist fights with officials while some come visibly drunk and shouting obscenities during matches, something which a teacher cannot do as consequences are dire.
The provincial head in charge said they have always insisted on certificated teachers but due to the few numbers, it has not been adhered to.

“I am not sure exactly as to the number of teachers with coaching certificates but we to move with the trend,” said Ndlovu.
Meanwhile, due to fixture congestion, the Under-15 boys matches for 2012 have been removed from the calendar, leaving three boys age groups while girls still have

the Under-17 and Under-20 groups.
The Under-16 boys will compete in the CocaCola tournament, the Under-17s will compete in their traditional M and H with Nash Under-20s still in.
