Chess is a growing sport within schools. “From 17-18 March, Masvingo will host the National Scholars Chess Championships and Mashonaland Central will host the National Talent Identification Championships set for 23-24 June,” he said.
He went on to give an update on events that will take place in the Bulawayo Province.
“The league will be starting on 18 February and it will stretch to 16 June. Thirty schools have been grouped into three divisions to make up the teams that will participate in the league,” he said.
Division One: Sizane, Mandwandwe, Gifford, Mpopoma, Njube, Nkulumane, CBC, Hamilton, St Columbus, Premier High School.
Second Division: Msiteli, Mzilikazi, Luveve, Milton, Sikhulile, Founders, St Bernard, Pumula, Northlea,Ihlathi High School.
Division Three: Sobukhazi, Amhlophe, Magwegwe, Masiyephambili, Emakhandeni, Inyanda, Masotsha, Nketa, Lobengula and Emganwini High School.
