Nashie, Trevor in bar brawl

UP AND COMING Bulawayo hip hop artiste  Tinashe Mararanyika, popularly known as Nashie-Mboko was reportedly involved in a bar brawl with fellow urban grooves musician Trevor Dongo, at a local pub over gate takings. The incident is reported to have occurred last week at Cape to Cairo Restaurant and Pub, where Nashie is believed to have booked the venue to record a live video for an upcoming single, which would feature Dongo.

A source, who witnessed the scuffle, alleged that Nashie invited Dongo to feature in his video and promised to pay him an undisclosed amount of money after the shoot from gate takings.

“They had an agreement, which we believe Nashie failed to meet,” claimed the source who preferred anonymity.

The source added that when Dongo asked for his dues after the show, Nashie was infuriated, and lashed out at him, before grabbing him by the collar and threatening to pound him.

“It was a fiasco; we were shocked to see Nashie behaving in that manner. We have heard that he is a controversial character but never had we expected to see him getting violent to that extent.

“Trevor, however, remained calm. He just stood there and did not lift his finger as Nashie verbally attacked and even manhandled him. It was only after members of his posse intervened that they calmed Nashie down although Trevor didn’t do anything,” added the source.

Nashie could not deny nor confirm the issue.

“It was just one of those issues I don’t want to comment about,” he said before hanging up his mobile phone.

Dongo was also not responsive on the issue, as he cut his phone after being quizzed about the issue.

Persistent efforts to get a comment from him proved fruitless, as his phone went unanswered by the time of going to Press.

Nashie is a talented artiste with great determination on changing the game with his unique flow and lyrics.

He began his music career at the age of 16 while he was still in high school.

A few months ago Nashie was also fingered to be part of a scam that was going around duping upcoming artistes of monies, claiming to be BosTV agents, seeking to promote local upcoming artistes. The issue was later resolved as the station cautioned people about the scam and warned all those involved in the scam that the law was going to catch up with them.

Dongo on the other hand is regarded as a rare trinket to Zimbabwean music.

The soft voiced musician is also regarded as a creative warehouse of romantic explorations, as he continuously sings about themes of love.

He too was sometime ago involved in a scandal where he was reported to have impregnated an 18-year-old dancer from Harare, allegations which he vehemently denied.
