Nata on next month: ZTA

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive officer Mr Karikoga Kaseke said the award presentation ceremony would be held between mid and end of next month in Harare.

“I can confirm that the award ceremony is still on, though we are yet to come up with a date, the event will be held between mid and month end of February,” he said.

He said ZTA could not honour the luminaries in the tourism sector in 2012 during the festive season because most of the players in the sector during that period had a busy schedule.

“We had overlooked the fact that during the festive season, most of the players in the sector will not be available during the festive season because of their busy schedule.

“Thus we decided to postpone the ceremony to February”.

Initially, the National Annual Tourism Award ceremony was planned for 13 December but because of a technical glitch on the Internet resulting in nomination forms not being downloaded or sent via the electronic system, the event was moved to 21 December and was later further postponed again.

The objective of the awards is to promote healthy competition in the tourism sector for sustainable development.
