Nation urged to vote out unity Govt

opportunity to be part of the Government.

“It is time for the unity government to go because it is useless. We have people who have overstayed their welcome in the governance system and this unity Government must go with them.

“These are the people who just surfaced recently and they want to be part of the Government but how can they be if they were not involved in the liberation of this country? They do not even have ideas for leading the country in the future as they are puppets,” he said.

Cde Moyo said the elections would be held as stated by the current constitution of the country.

“The five year Parliament is coming to an end and we have to hold elections as stated in the current constitution. There have been attempts to draft a new constitution under the inclusive Government but it has not been completed and as a result we will use the old constitution which will rid us of the inclusive Government,” said Cde Moyo.

He said the elections were a way for the people to hold on to the land which they long fought to gain during the liberation struggle. He said the people were actively involved in the gaining of this liberation as they were carrying out important duties.

“The journey to liberation has been long and it was through the assistance of people who were cooking and providing shelter for soldiers that this independence was gained,” said Cde Moyo.

“You as people took the land and therefore you must defend it because it belongs to you and not to the whites. Defending this land that we fought for is a sign of being united.”

He urged people to emulate the works of the late liberation hero, Cde Ngwenya who never got carried away but fought to defend the liberation movement up until his time of death.

“We have many people who have diverted from the right path and have thereby ceased to defend the purpose of liberation. We have to remain united, avoid a situation whereby you move to serve the whites as this defeats the purpose of the fight for liberation.

“We have people who have divided the country and divided the people because of greed. This is a sign of disrespecting our leaders such as Joshua Nkomo who fought to see the people of this country united. Let us emulate the late Cde Ngwenya who was taken captive by whites but remained brave,” said Cde Moyo.

He said people had to respect the past and present leadership of the country during elections.

Speaking at the same occasion, Matabeleland South Governor Cde Angeline Masuku said Matabeleland had some Ministers and MPs who were failing to represent the people.

“Our province has produced ministers, MPs and other officials who are now lost as they have been carried away and opted to serve the whites. As a result these officials are failing to carry out their duty of representing the people by carrying their grievances to the President,” said Governor Masuku

“These are the people who are stopping our province from realising development and prosperity. We, however, hail some of our liberation heroes like Cde Ngwenya who have taken an active part in channelling development in our region.”

Governor Masuku expressed concern over the violence that often marked political elections.

She urged people to fight against poverty and not against one another in order to bring development to the province.

Liberation hero Cde Chilisi Bhuka Ngwenya, whose struggle name was Black Swine Mnyamana, died in December and was buried at his homestead in Dombodema.
