The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) has announced an immediate reduction in registration fees for artists and creative organisations.

This move id expected to significantly ease the cost of doing business in the cultural and creative industries.

The fee reduction takes effect from January 30, 2026, and applies to all artists, arts associations and creative organisations.

The development follows a directive issued by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Rushwaya, to the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, instructing Government agencies to review licences, permits and levies in order to improve the ease of doing business across sectors.

In a statement, NACZ said the decision is aligned with Government’s broader agenda to stimulate economic growth and strengthen Zimbabwe’s creative economy by removing barriers that have long hindered formalisation and compliance within the arts sector.

“The revised fee structure is designed to reduce the operational burden on artists and creative enterprises, encourage compliance, and allow practitioners to redirect resources towards production, innovation and sustainability,” the Council said.

The move is expected to bring relief to thousands of artists who have previously raised concerns over the high cost of registration, which many argued limited participation in formal markets and access to opportunities.

NACZ has urged artists, creative organisations and arts associations to take advantage of the new fees structure, noting that an updated registration fee schedule has been issued.

The intervention reinforces Government’s position of supporting the arts as a key economic driver and positions the creative sector as a vital contributor to Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development.

Industry players have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely step towards creating a more inclusive, vibrant and sustainable creative industry.
