THE National Assembly resumes sitting today following the passage of the historic Constitutional Amendment Bill No.3 last week.

The historic Constitutional amendment followed over a month-and-a-half of debate by legislators in both the National Assembly and Senate.

During debate, Parliament suspended its other business to enable the legislators to focus on CAB3.

The Bill was passed following wide debate in both Houses of Parliament with over 270 legislators contributing.

The Bill, which now awaits President Mnangagwa’s assent, seeks to, among other things, extend the electoral cycle from five to seven years, allow Parliament to elect the President, establish the Zimbabwe Delimitation Commission to create ward and constituency boundaries and transfer management of the voters’ roll from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to the Registrar General’s office.
