National Blankets introduces new products

that has been complaining about imported products that were less durable.

In an interview, the marketing manager of the company Mrs Patience Marck-Patsanza said they had come up with the new products as a way of fighting competition as well as fulfilling the needs of the market.

“We introduced new products because people were complaining about the imported two in one blankets that when washed become useless so we created a product that lasts.

“The difference with our blankets is that ours are woven while some imported products are made from fleece hence our products are of high quality,” Mr Patsanza said.

“The reintroduction of duty saw many people struggling to continue buying blankets from outside since it became expensive to come in with the products.

“This created demand locally as it forced people to start buying locally and they even realised that locally manufactured goods are better than imported ones,” she said.

The company introduced the blossom which comprises of floral designs and it’s a two colour combination, passion which has solid colour and the wilderness which is the animal print brand.

“The new brands were launched at the Zimbabwe International Trade fair and are only available at the factory but will soon be on shelves in different retails and wholesales.”

Mrs Patsanza said they made sure they catered for everyone in the market as they had low-cost blankets for the average person and those with higher income as well.

“Our blankets range from $25 to $40 and we can even personalise the products for corporate, churches or even individuals who want their products printed in a specific way.”

Mrs Patsanza said the company was considering exports as it had invested in new state-of-the-art equipment to help produce even more high quality products.

“We are now targeting the international markets because the products we are producing are of international standards,” she said.

“We have had so many inquiries with some people already making orders and I think the response by the local market is quite encouraging and it is proof that our product is of high quality.”

She, however, said that financial constraints continued to bedevil the company hence slowing down growth and productivity.

“We are facing financial challenges to get adequate raw materials as there are no available lines of credit to help us increase our production levels,” Mrs Patsanza said.
