The National Employment Council (NEC) for Agriculture has amended its constitution, thereby paving the way for enhanced cooperation in the sector.
Addressing an induction for 17 councillors, the NEC for Agriculture’s chief executive officer Mr David Madyausiku said the development is positive and urged councillors to prioritise the interests of both employees and employers.
“The constitution is a sacred document that defines who we are and our mission. It is a living document reflecting the aspirations of social parties and constituencies,” he said.
Mr Madyausiku emphasised the need for cooperation among representatives.
“Let us serve our constituents’ interests, guarantee social justice, improve working conditions, and advance productivity for the benefit of the agricultural industry and our nation,” he said.
“We must guarantee social justice, improve working conditions, and advance production.”
Speaking at the same event, director for labour administration in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Mr Clemence Vusani said child labour should not be tolerated.
