National Foods helps renovate four schools

Zimbabwe’s largest milling company, National Foods, has renovated classroom blocks at four schools in Mashonaland West Province, as part its social investment programme.

The schools that have benefited from the renovation of the classroom blocks are St Raphael Muzvezve and Chakari Primary School in Mhondoro-Ngezi, as well as Rockbar and Kasirisi primary schools in Sanyati, the company said.

National Foods, which is also into manufacturing of cooking oil, packaging of rice and stockfeed production said it partnered Kapnek Trust to rehabilitate the schools to bring long-term benefits to communities where it operated.

“National Foods Ltd takes pride in its social investments,” the company said.

“The company’s philosophy is to plough back to the communities where it operates in by enhancing lives, improving well-being and building lasting social capital.” National Foods has three social investment categories, namely vulnerable groups, community and strategic support. The company’s community support includes schools, hospitals, church-run institutions and disadvantaged communities.

At Rockbar Primary School, National Foods funded the renovation of an ECD block. The school has 389 students and nine teachers. In addition to the renovation of the ECD facility, the company has also provided furniture for the ECD pupils and their teachers.

At Kasiriri Primary School, the company funded the renovation of an ECD block, which has two classrooms and also provided furniture.

“The renovations have added value to the school from an infrastructure point of view and created an access to learning for students in the community,” the company said. National Foods renovated an ECD block at Chakari Primary School and also donated furniture.

“NFL commits to long-term social investments in the communities as part of their agenda to plough back to the communities within which the company operates,” said the company.
