AGRO-PROCESSING firm, National Foods Limited, has launched five new breakfast cereal products under its Pearlenta’s Nutri Active range, which the company says is meant to cater for the whole family and the health-conscious market.

The launch in Bulawayo last Thursday ran under the theme: “Nourishing the nation” and was attended by corporates such as OK Zimbabwe, Fortwell Wholesalers, Gain Wholesalers, Rainbow Tourism Group and African Sun.

The five breakfast cereals include Cornflakes, Bran Flakes, Sugar-Free Whole Grain Flakes, Instant Cereal Crunchy and Smooth for children.

The products were developed under the National Foods Limited Zimbabwe Cereals, Culinary and Baby Foods (CCB) division.

Mr William Kapfupi, the brains behind the products said it took two years to develop the products.
“We have had over two years of researching, developing and understanding what is really wanted or liked by the people in our country when they consume breakfast cereals. We’ve developed five cereals and this is the beginning of the innovation,” said Mr Kapfupi.

He said next year baby cereals will be launched under the CCB division.

National Foods Zimbabwe Limited sales and marketing manager, Mrs Nomagugu Matafare, urged stakeholders to give feedback about the products.

“Bulawayo is special hence we decided to launch our cereals here first before moving to other cities like Harare.

We do value consumer feedback and as we are sampling and eating these products please give us feedback,” said Mrs Matafare.

The corporates pledged to have the products on shelves soon.
