with the appointment of a local organising committee last week.
The fourth edition of the Games was held in Mashonaland West in Chinhoyi in April this year and Midlands are the defending champions.
However, next year’s Games are scheduled for Hwange and the hosts named their local organising committee recently to start preparing for the event.
The committee will be led by Victor Rakabopa, who is coming in as the chief executive. He will be assisted by Ndumiso Madhalosi, who is the general manager, and finance manager Donald Khumalo.
Burzil Dube is the fundraising manager. Other members of the committee are Lathiso Dhlamini, Kenneth Nyape, Innocent Ncube, Ananias Banda, Mugove Hamadziripi, Tafadzwa Munodawafa, Leonard Mwale and Isaiah Mpofu.
Mpofu said they were not taking any chances and have started identifying sporting facilities and accommodation venues to be used during the Games.
“The Games are being held in Hwange because they have all the required facilities to host the games.
“What we are doing is giving the facilities a facelift. We have identified most of the accommodation areas and it will be mainly schools for the athletes, there are also a lot of a lot of lodges there,” said Mpofu.
