BULAWAYO provincea��s representatives are ready to shine in the national ladies pool tournament set for Saturday at Blackball Emporium Arcade in the City of Kings and Queens.
Team Bulawayo is made up of female seasoned pool players that include Kitumestsi Gubudu, Lucy Mpofu,A� Flatter a�?Heavya�? Moyo, Priscilla Chisoro, Christine Chengwe, Sithembiso Dube, Priscilla Lunga, Rebecca Chitokwane and Carol Dube among others.
They will face teams from Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Midlands, Harare, and Chitungwiza.
Mpofu, who was one of the female pool players that was set to represent Bulawayo in last yeara��s Carling Black Label National Pool contest that was held in Gweru before she pulled out at the last minute citing family engagements,A� said they were ready to do the province proud.
a�?We are more than ready to represent Bulawayo. I think we have all what it takes to do well in this tournament. We have been working hard at training and come Saturday, we will walk tall,a�? said Mpofu.
Moyo, who doubles up as one of the members of the organising committee said they were ready to host the national competition.
a�?We are ready to host other provinces. The first prize is $200. The team that will come out second will get $130. The second runners up will go home with $80,a�? said Moyo.
Meanwhile, The Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) will on Saturday hold its first referees workshop at Raylton Recreation Club.
a�?The workshop will see umpires undergo theory and practical lessons. Two representatives from each club will be expected to attend. As an association we 48 affiliates and this means will have 96 participants. We aim to improve to improve the game by having competent umpires,a�? said BPA publicity secretary Farai Nyandoro.
The workshop sees the cancellation of BPAa��s week three fixtures.
a�?We however, urge the Bulawayo pool family to also go and support women at their national tournament,a�? added Nyandoro.
