Natsai drops second album

UPCOMING gospel musician Evelyn Natsai Moyo has released her second album titled “Ndadzoka”.

The seven-track album was officially launched in Harare last week.

Notable tracks on the project include title track “Ndadzoka’’, “Zadzai Moyo”, “Nkosi Yami” and “Makanaka”. The gospel artiste said she mainly preaches through song.

In the opening track “Ndadzoka”, she sings about a person who abandoned prayer in pursuit of worldly pleasures but later realised that only God is salvation.

She also walks down memory lane, narrating how she survived a horrific car accident that claimed her mother.

She was injured and hospitalised.

As she was in the hospital, her grandmother would sing gospel songs, which largely inspired her to venture into gospel music, as she began to appreciate the power of worship songs.

“Singing gospel is my calling. I am not concerned much about earning much income from the music since my priority is spreading the word. I simply consider this to be God’s work,” she said.

Her debut project “Vanokurwira”, which was released in 2020, also did well on the market.

“The response has been encouraging so far. My last effort was well-received and I am certain it will be the same case this time around.”

The album, which is a cocktail of genres, features sungura singer Mark Ngwazi on the song “Batai Ruoko”. The track is already making waves on Star FM and Radio Zimbabwe. Natsai started writing and recording gospel music in 2004. She, however, was hesitant to release her music. The realisation that she was getting older forced her to act, resulting in the release of her debut album two years ago. The chartered accountant by profession also attributed her late entry into music to the time she spent doing her academic studies.

“I have always had a strong passion for music but my parents insisted that I should pursue an academic career first,” she said.

A firm believer in lively, entertaining gospel music, Natsai said gospel music should be fun so that people can enjoy praising and worshipping God. She sees herself as an international gospel artiste collaborating with musicians from all over the world within the next 10 years.

Natsai is Pastor Bonnie Deuschle’s former backing vocalist.
