NBSZ seizes show opportunity

National Blood Services Zimbabwe has embarked on an awareness campaign at the Harare Agricultural Show to ensure that blood is available nationally to those who need it, an official has said.
In an interview at the Harare Agricultural Show where NBSZ is exhibiting, customer relations manager Mr Gracium Bvuma said the whole idea was to inform and recruit especially the youths to donate blood.

“So far we do not have targeted blood units that we need to collect. Instead all are free to donate blood,” said Mr Bvuma.
“The main thrust for this exhibition is for the public to have knowledge on the importance of donating blood and we are hoping that more people will donate blood to save lives of others who are in need.”

The NBSZ is exhibiting under the theme “Donate Blood Save Life” in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare.
The national blood provider has set up a Pledge 25 club that donates blood regularly. “This club represents the pledge that members have made to donate blood 25 times in their lifetime,” said Mr Bvuma.
