The much-travelled Ndabambi had got off to a flying start when he was appointed coach at Shooting Stars in April as he registered a 1-0 win over champions Motor Action during round four of the Castle Lager Premiership.
He also managed a 3-1 win over Kiglon in round eight but the side has lost the other 10 league ga- mes.
The latest defeat was a 1-0 loss away to Shabanie were Ndabambi failed to control his dressing room resulting in some players opting out of the team.
Yesterday, Shooting Stars chairman Lewis Matindife said they are now hunting for a substantive coach but assistant Tonderai Marume will hold the fort in the meantime.
“We have suspended the coach (Ndabambi) but have tasked Marume, who had been one of the assistant coaches, to be the caretaker coach.
“At the moment we are still holding talks with a couple of coaches to take over,” said Matindife.
It’s understood that Rodwell Dhlakama, who was recently relieved of his duties at Kiglon, is top of their priority list.
Last year, Dhlakama was the technical adviser at the Wild Boys and helped them survive relegation.
Marume will be facing a tough test today as he hopes to win two battles from one front.
On one end, Marume is hoping to impress the Mutare fans so that they can support Shooting Stars in the next home games while on the other end he is desperate for three points.
Marume is confident of a good result and hopes the return of veteran midfielder Tofireyi Sambo will help the team.
“Last week, we wanted to play this game at Sakubva but we were denied the opportunity because the venue was not in order.
“Now we have been sanctioned to use Sakubva and I hope it will be the perfect platform to woo the Mutare fans.
“The team is now looking okay as Tofireyi Sambo and Tongai Chioreso who missed the last game against Shabanie are now back,” said Marume.
But Gunners are also looking forward to a positive result after their 1-0 victory over Black Mambas at Lafarge.
Chando Kupisa are still missing the services of first choice goalkeeper George Chigova and unsettled midfielder Ashley Rambanapasi who went AWOL.
However, Gunners, will hope that Prosper Chigumba will keep a clean sheet while the experience of Elvis Meleka could come handy as he faces his former side.
Gunners are set to miss midfielder Wellington Kamudyariwa and defender Qadr Amini who are with the national Under-23 squad in camp.
