THE Castle Lager Premiership mid-season transfer window opens today, with Zimbabwe international Terrence Dzvukamanja tipped for a homecoming after weeks of negotiations with ambitious new boys Scottland.
The 31-year-old forward, who spent the past seven years playing for various clubs in the South African top-flight league, is believed to have agreed to return home after stints with Bidvest Wits, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United.
Sources close to the negotiations told Zimpapers Sports Hub that Scottland and Dzvukamanja have made significant progress.
“It’s almost a done deal,” said the source yesterday.
“Terry is coming back home, unless something big happens. If you look at their conversion rate of late, it hasn’t been satisfactory. Scottland need to boost their scoring to keep pace with the top teams and maybe fight for honours at the end of the season.”
The Mabvuku side, tipped to dominate after acquiring several star players at the beginning of the season, has blown hot and cold in their debut Premiership campaign.
They’ve managed just three goals in their last six completed matches, and their recent dip in form has seen them lose considerable ground in the title race.
Dzvukamanja is expected to complement a Scottland strike force that includes last season’s top scorers Lynoth Chikuhwa, Walter Musona, and Khama Billiat, none of whom have rediscovered their scoring touch this season.
Ndiraya is a long-time admirer of the Warriors striker, having worked with him at Ngezi Platinum Stars between 2017 and 2018 before Dzvukamanja left for South Africa.
Although Scottland officials have kept negotiations under wraps, the club hasn’t ruled out the possibility of mid-season signings.
Asked about the transfer prospects following the goalless draw with relegation-threatened Triangle at the weekend, Ndiraya didn’t mince his words.
“Most definitely, decisions will be made to strengthen the team. I think the process has started already. This was the last game before the window opens. Let’s wait and see what happens,” said Ndiraya.
To make room for new arrivals, Scottland are also expected to loan out some of their players to fellow PSL clubs. Last season’s top goal scorer, Chikuhwa, is believed to be on the verge of joining Yadah Stars on loan for the second half of the season.
There’s also uncertainty surrounding players like Elvis Moyo, Godfrey Makaruse, Tichaona Chipunza, and Namibian forward Sadney Urikhob, who have seen limited game time in the first half of the campaign.
