WARRIORS striker, Tendai “Fire” Ndoro marked his farewell to local club football in style as Ndoro11 lifted his self-sponsored tournament held at Nketa 8 suburb in Bulawayo on New Year’s Day. The former Chicken Inn man is on his way to South Africa’s Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Ndoro11 won 3-1 on penalties against Nketa 7-based Bulawayo Christian League (BCL) champions Sangano Revapositori after the match had ended 1-1 in regulation time.
To book the final berth Ndoro11 had thumped Simba Rusike-coached Nketa All Stars 5-3.
For their sweat the winners walked away with $200 and a trophy courtesy of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Golden Boot Winner and Soccer Star of the Year finalist.
Bantu Rovers player Fortune Ncube was crowned player of the tournament while Eddie Moyo was tournament’s top goal scorer after bagging three goals.
Ndoro11 players comprised his former teammates and close friends among them Njabulo Nyoni, Danny Phiri, Kuda Mahachi, former Highlanders assistant coach Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu and Botswana-based Mgcini Sibanda.
Ndoro and his friends were under the tutelage of former Chicken Inn head coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu who also once mentored the Warriors striker at Kujatana.
“The tournament was a success, the best way to say goodbye and thank all those who made me what I am. Thank you to everyone that came to support me on the day, especially people of Nketa and my former teammates at Chicken Inn and Kujatana,” said Ndoro.
Ndoro who is set to debut in Mpumalanga Black Aces colours on January 24 against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium said this was also meant to inspire the youngsters in the suburbs.
“This tournament was also meant to show youngsters that with dedication and hard work you can achieve your dreams. It will go a long way in motivating them,” said Ndoro.
He said his target was now to prove his worth in the Absa premiership.
“I have had a good time here becoming top goal scorer and to be on the calendar, now my target is to keep the scoring touch when I start playing in Mpumalanga,” said Ndoro.
Top football administrators such Chicken Inn secretary Tavengwa Hara and Bantu Rovers founder Methembe Ndlovu graced the event.
