Ndoro off to South Africa

ZIMBABWE Castle Lager Golden Boot winner Tendai Ndoro flew out of the country yesterday to join his Absa Premiership side Mpumalanga Black Aces in South Africa.
Ndoro has been on loan at Bulawayo’s Chicken Inn where he banged in 18 goals, a feat that saw him winning the most lethal boot award as well as being among the country’s 11 best players. He is also a favourite for the Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year award.

“It’s goodbye to Zimbabwe now,” said Ndoro moments before boarding a South African Airlink at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport yesterday.

He was accompanied by his parents, siblings and Chicken Inn committee member Mlungisi ‘MP’ Moyo. He will return home next week for the Castle Lager Soccer Stars Awards banquet.

Ndoro joins a club that is ninth on the standings with 14 points but their scoring rate has been poor, especially in their last five games and his arrival is expected to boost the strikeforce.

To probably pave way for Ndoro, Mpumalanga Black Aces early this week released two strikers, Houston Hills and Eugene Mazwi Mncube on free loan.

Speaking to the South African side’s official website, Ndoro, who is a typical goal poacher type of striker whose goals are reminiscent of Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp, said winning the Golden Boot was a big achievement for him and he was looking forward to joining his teammates down south.

“Yes I am looking forward to joining my teammates at Black Aces very soon.  I’m ready for the South African Premier Soccer League challenge. It was a testing season for me with so many games played both locally and internationally.

“But thank God I managed to finish the season the way I started it and I hope and wish to carry the same luck to AmaZayoni,” said Ndoro, who also transformed his club form to the national team which has seen him become a vital cog in Ian Gorowa’s Warriors set up.

At Aces, he will don jersey number 37. He will join fellow Zimbabwean internationals in defender and skipper Method Mwanjali and goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro. The latter is seeking to secure a permanent South Africa residency having spent over five seasons living and playing in the PSL.
