THE National Development Strategy 2 and the 2026 National Budget unveiled last week are in sync with resolutions from Zanu PF Annual National People’s conferences and congress, cementing the revolutionary party as a people-centred entity, President Mnangagwa has said.

Addressing the 389th Politburo meeting in Harare yesterday, President Mnangagwa, who is the Zanu PF First Secretary, said the party should take a leading role in ensuring the full implementation of the Government economic blueprint, NDS2, during its five-year lifespan.

“The last quarter of the year culminated in the successful completion of the National Development Strategy 1 and Launch of NDS-2.

“The achievements of the Transitional Stabilisation Programme and NDS 1 as well as launch of NDS2 were a result of the views and resolutions of our past conferences and congress. Zanu PF is a listening Government,” said President Mnangagwa.

“The conference further concretised our people-centred development path, towards Vision 2030. More critical in this respect, was the fact that the 2026 National Budget announced last week was sensitive to the party’s conference resolutions. This is commendable, well done. Our national Vision 2030 and NDS2 remain fundamental beacons that guide our work and plans for the near future.”

He said the country had registered huge milestones in all facets of the economy.

“Together as one people, from all the four corners of our country, in our diversity, we achieved unprecedented milestones across every facet of our economy and society.

“We have every reason to stand tall and confident of being masters of our destiny, an independent and sovereign people. Tinoti amhlope, makorokoto kunhengo dzemusangano wedu weZanu PF, neruzhinji rweZimbabwe,” said President Mnangagwa.

He said party members should be proactive and adapt to contemporary issues such as Artificial Intelligence.

“Equally important is the need for Zanu PF to face head-on, contemporary issues such as the impact of ICTs as well as artificial intelligence, among other trends, on our body politic and national governance systems.

“We must be proactive and prepared to adapt our party in line with these developments.

“Our national realities, rich liberation ethos, and the people-centred character of our colossal revolutionary party, should not be neglected,” said President Mnangagwa.

He noted that the country’s economy continued to register growth anchored on positive performance across economic sectors.

“On activities undertaken on the Government side since our last meeting; the economy remains on an upward growth trajectory and indicators are that we will end the year on a sound economic footing.

“This is anchored on the strong performance of the agriculture sector, high commodity prices, especially gold, coupled with investments in manufacturing, tourism, construction and infrastructure development sectors, among others,” said President Mnangagwa.

“The remittances by our citizens in the diaspora continue to positively impact our country’s current account as well as balance of payments. The ongoing visits and show of interest by reputable investors from within our country as well as the region and beyond are a vote of confidence on the trajectory and success milestones we are attaining.”

President Mnangagwa noted that engagement and re-engagement efforts by his administration were bearing fruit given bi-national commission meetings being held in recent months.

“Our engagement and re-engagement with other countries is bearing positive results. To this end, the bi-national commissions are enabling our country to combine its strengths with other jurisdictions, for win-win benefits,” he said.

“Under the auspices of the bi-national commission frameworks, successful meetings were held between Zimbabwe and Zambia as well as Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

“The outcome of our co-operation will see concrete programmes and joint investments with our neighbours as we deepen of bilateral-relations as well as the regional integration agenda to help lift many of our people, out of poverty, into prosperity.”

Last week, President Mnangagwa launched the NDS2 which is set to provide impetus to economic growth.

The economic blueprint will also consolidate the gains made under NDS1 and accelerate Zimbabwe’s journey towards Vision 2030.

Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube last week unveiled the 2026 national Budget whose fiscal policy measures will further consolidate economic growth.
