A DANGAMVURA man is alleged to have fraudulently offered his neighbour’s car as collateral and misrepresented himself as his neighbour to a loan shark.Oliver Kaome (31) was remanded out of custody to September 22, for trial on $40 bail.

Kaome denied the fraud charges when he appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura.

Allegations were that sometime in July 2014, the suspect took a registration book of a Toyota Corolla ABU 6408 which belonged to his neighbour, Calvin Mapfumo.

“Kaome represented himself as Calvin Mapfumo to Alexander Murapa and borrowed money amounting to $400. He used the registration book as collateral. On December 24, 2014, Murapa learnt that Kaome had misrepresented facts to him and that he was not Calvin Mapfumo and neither did he owned the Toyota Corolla. He reported the matter to the police,” said Mr Karombe.

Kaome has been at large since December 2014 and was only arrested last week.

Kaome denied the allegations and said he had not at any time misrepresented facts that he was Calvin Mapfumo.

“Your Worship, I do not know why these people are lying against me, they are framing the whole story,” he said.
