JOHANNESBURG. — Former Zimbabwean international Tinashe Nengomasha is backing coach Ian Gorowa to lead the Warriors to the knockout stage of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN). The Zimbabweans drew their opening match of the tournament against Morocco 0-0 at the Athlone Stadium. They will next tackle Uganda today and the Bidvest Wits midfielder expects his countrymen to do well.
“Zimbabwe has got a clever coach in Ian Gorowa, he has been there and done it all in the local scene,” says the 31-year-old.
“The good thing about him is that he is a coach that is locally-based and he knows the culture in Zimbabwe.
“He understands what the nations needs from this team in order to be successful in Africa.
“I think they will challenge very well in this tournament and have an opportunity to win this cup.” The former Kaizer Chiefs stalwart has also lauded the inception of this tournament, which is in its third edition and is exclusive to domestic-based players. — MTN.
