Nestle Zim praises Naph

THE National Association of Primary School Heads has been praised for the way it runs sporting events by some of its sponsors.

Former Dynamos chairman Farai Munetsi who is the Nestle Zimbabwe corporate communications and public affairs manager said he was enjoying working with Naph.

His company has so far poured in more than $500,000 into Naph Physical Education as well as track and field athletics competitions whose finals will be held at Bindura’s Trojan Mine Stadium at the end of this month. He said the primary schools governing body for sport was organised.

“Naph is so organised in terms of structures and general administration. It’s different from football where I have been and this is why I always say I don’t regret leaving active football,” said Munetsi yesterday.

He was in Bulawayo for the Bulawayo Province track and field championships held at the recently refurbished White City Stadium.

Meanwhile, Nestle Zimbabwe will this morning hold a free fitness session for aerobics enthusiasts at OK Mart under the theme “Choose Wellness.”

According to Munetsi, the session is meant to keep people fit so as to avoid ailments such as high blood pressure among other common ills.

“It’s part of our community responsibility programme, the first of its kind in Bulawayo and we are therefore inviting the city’s residents to come and enjoy themselves through fitness. It’s for free,” said Munetsi.

His company has trained more than 3,200 teachers in wellness programmes which is 61 percent of the number of schools in the country.

Naph came for further praise from Clemence Kunzekweguta of Zero Suppliers whose company provided kits to more than 300 teachers and officials at White City Stadium. The officials looked immaculate in their white uniforms and raised the bar at the colourful event .

“This is professionalism that lures us to sponsor sport. Poor event management discourages companies or individuals from sponsoring sport,” said Kunzekweguta who was among the guests.

Zero Suppliers sponsored the trophy for the winning district in Bulawayo with the overall sponsorship just like in Matabeleland South, coming from Nestle Zimbabwe.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Gwanda event Kunzekweguta said times were changing in schools sport because of exposure.

“A lot of ground has been covered in terms of how events are run and administered and this is a good platform for the identification of talent for further development,” said Kunzekweguta.

The Bulawayo businessman challenged teachers and Naph to groom their pupils towards Fair Play in sport.

He pledged his continued support.
