Netball games resume

ACTION in the Bulawayo Netball League will resume on September 17 after a month-long mid-season break that paved way for the National Youth Games in Chinhoyi.

Bulawayo Netball Association technical director Nozipho Mpofu said some players from the league were representing the province in the National Youth Games, hence they were forced to go for a break.

“We are expecting the league to resume on September 17 since the break was meant to pave way for the National Youth Games.

“Now that the games are over, we are looking forward to a more competitive season,” Mpofu said.

However, the netball season will be preceded by a pre-season tournament to be held at White City Stadium this weekend and all Bulawayo netball teams are expected to take part in the tournament.

The competition is meant to prepare teams for the coming season and enable players to get together.

This year’s tournament is also likely to feature teams from the Bulawayo Christian League (BCL), who have shown an interest.

Mpofu said the involvement of BCL teams and others from outside Bulawayo that had expressed a keen interest would make the pre-season tourney more competitive.
