ORGANISERS of the Nedbank Premier Netball League have expressed satisfaction with the competition so far, with the long weekend delivering an exciting round of matches across three bubble venues.

Last weekend marked the fifth round of fixtures in the competition.
League spokesperson Innocent Ndiya commended participating clubs for their discipline and the high standard of play on display.

“The Premier Netball League delivered another successful weekend of netball as Week 5 brought high-energy matches and passionate community support across three venues.

“For the first time this year, the league extended its reach to the Goromonzi, a bubble which was hosted by Makate High Fliers and Epworth communities a courtesy of Ligi Dolphin Queens and the response was outstanding. The expansion allowed more fans to experience top-level domestic netball firsthand and we thank the local leadership and supporters in both areas for the warm welcome and electric atmosphere,” said Ndiya.

In Mutare, Sakubva Zamba Primary School hosted the city bubble, where supporters turned out in large numbers to back their teams. The matches featured dominant performances, closely contested encounters and standout individual displays, highlighting the depth of talent within the league.

“Across all three bubbles, the matches were played in a spirit of sportsmanship, discipline and high quality netball.

The weekend action reaffirmed that the Premier Netball League continues to grow as a platform for competitive sport and community engagement,” said Ndiya.

Ndiya said the progress achieved so far would not have been possible without the backing of the league’s sponsor, Nedbank.

“On behalf of the league, I extend our sincere gratitude to Nedbank Zimbabwe for standing with us as a valued partner. Your support enables us to deliver quality competition and reach new communities.

“We also take this opportunity to invite more corporates to join us in supporting domestic netball. With your partnership, we can continue to nurture grassroots talent, provide pathways for young players, and strengthen netball across Zimbabwe. The league remains committed to taking the game to more communities and elevating the standard of netball at every level. We look forward to an even stronger Week Six,” said Ndiya.

Harare City Queens, despite suffering two defeats in 14 matches, sit at the top of the standings on 24 points, level with Chapungu Queens, Makate High Fliers and Black Rhinos.

Traditional powerhouse Zimbabwe Defence Forces occupy fifth position, with two games in hand over the leading pack.

City Queens lead the standings courtesy of their superior attacking record, having scored a league-high 1 084 goals.
