NetOne’s group chief executive officer, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, has called for urgent, tech-driven action to protect Zimbabwe’s wetlands.
He was delivering closing remarks at the COP15 welcome dinner that affirmed the company’s commitment to climate resilience and environmental innovation in Victoria Falls on Thursday
The event marked a clear call for unity, innovation and tangible solutions-firmly positioning NetOne as a driving force in Zimbabwe’s environmental agenda.
“Standing here is not just a personal honour, but a national statement, underscoring the Government’s focus on youth inclusion and environmental justice through the National Development Strategy,” he said.
“The wetlands are watching. And history is listening. Wetlands are not wastelands; they are wombs of life,” said Eng Mushanawani.
As COP15 participants prepared to adopt the Victoria Falls Declaration for Sustainable Wetland Conservation, Eng Mushanawani stressed the need for practical solutions over slogans.
“Technology, when placed in the right hands, can heal-not harm-our planet.”
NetOne showcased new Internet of Things (IoT) wetland sensors-innovations converting environmental data into real-time early warning systems.
