knowledge of the home course when the NetOne Golf Series tees off this morning.
Last year the Bulawayo tournament was the second leg after the series had started off in Mutare.
Bulawayo Golf Club is one of the oldest courses having been established in 1895 and has an unfamiliar terrain, which give the golfers a stiff challenge.
Tshuma believes playing at his home course with a set of new clubs will help him do well this time.
“I am feeling good and I am composed so I am looking forward to the game.
“I think I will try my best as my new golf kit is playing well.
“In terms of competition the game is tricky as we are all professionals
“However, I will be in good spirits after Hwange Colliery gave me this new kit for the season so I will need to play well.
“I have a good chance as I am hitting the balls well,” said Tshuma. The Bulawayo golfer said the course is playing well in spite of the winter grass on the greens.
Tshuma who came second in the same competition as well as the Hwange Open last year will face a field of local 40 professional golfers.
Four Zambians are also expected to converge at Bulawayo Golf Club for the event.
“Of course we have played together in several tournaments but that is now history everyone is looking forward to the new season,” said Tshuma.
Tongoona Charamba who is also in the running for today’s event won the tournament last year as starts as one of the favourites.
Charamba dominated the show when he won the tournament by beating his closest rival Tshuma by two shots.
Robson Saurombe came third while Ignatius Mketekete and Brian Gondo were tied on fourth place.
Charamba is likely to face stiff competition from the foreign golfers who were attracted by the amount, which is on offer this year.
The sponsors NetOne have raised the stakes to US$13 000 from the US$10 000 set aside last year and Tshuma who has improved with each game believes he can live up to expectations.
Last year the tournament had the winner walking away US$1 950 richer.
Charamba was not very active this year and last took part in the Premier Auto Services tournament where he came seventh.
The NetOne Series is of the Zambezi Tour which has been named after the Zimbabwe Professional Golfers Association Tour.
Zambezi Tour director, Michael Mahachi is happy with the sponsorship and looks forward to a competitive game.
