NEW: 19 000 hectares of tobacco under irrigation

MORE than 19 000 hectares have been put under irrigated tobacco crop for the 2023-24 summer cropping season, which represents a 22 percent decline from the same period last year.

According to recent statistics from the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board, 19 202ha have been planted, compared to 18 901ha during the same period a year earlier.

Meanwhile,112 906 growers have already registered with TIMB.
