NEW: 21-year-old in trouble over illegal gold

TWENTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD Tapiwa Munashe appeared before a Concession magistrate charged with prospecting for gold without a permit.

Tapiwa, who resides at Kurima Village, under Chief Dotito in Mt Darwin, was remanded in custody to June 26 by magistrate Mr Joshua Nembaware.

The court heard that on June 16, 2023, ZRP Mazowe received information that there were people who were carrying out illegal mining activities at Manzou area, near Mazowe Dam.

Upon arrival at the scene, police saw Tapiwa loading gold ore into sacks.

The accused person was asked to produce a licence or permit allowing him to conduct mining activities, but he failed to produce any such documents, leading to his arrest.
